#500NOW Campaign
The narrative around refugees is becoming more and more politicised, distortive of reality, and negative. This election cycle provides an opportunity to use the election as a platform to dispel some of those myths and showcase the positive end result, where refugees become long-time Kiwis and enrich the fabric of NZ society.
‘Welcome #500Now: Refugees Enrich NZ’ has a dual message. The action is to welcome 500 more refugees now (as opposed to waiting another three years for the refugee quota to be reviewed). This is asking future and current MPs to publicly state that they will support taking 500 more refugees now, if re-elected in September. This is an opportunity to use the election campaign to get our lawmakers to publicly commit to future action.
Insight: Hacking into YouTube beauty tags.
YouTube is a media platform for self-expression. Our team has used this insight and have given it a twist that highlights the differences between developed countries and countries of war. Our team imagines the actress to be genuine with a sense that she is doing her best to help herself and others. Along with a sense of pride of the things she has and values. Informal tone of voice, similar to other YouTube beauty videos. The magazine advert is a teaser for the YouTube video campaign and follows the same insight. This assignment was done in a group project with Ritwik Varma.
